Kombat.ro, the same site that first announced Schilt v. Ghita, has confirmed another match at the K-1 Final 16 in Seoul on September 26. It will be Catalin Morosanu v. Taiei Kin with the winner moving on to the Grand Prix finals in Tokyo to compete in the reserve fight that night.
Morosanu brings in a 19-3 record and was last seen on the main K-1 shows at the 2008 Taipei Grand Prix where he knocked out Junichi Sawayashiki in one round. Since then he’s gone 4-1 including wins over Freddy Kemayo and Gary Goodridge. Kin is 21-6-1 and recently made it to the finals of the 2009 Asia GP where he lost to Singh Jaideep.
This is an extremely important fight for both men as it keeps their Grand Prix hopes alive for 2009. It is not at all uncommon for a reserve fighter to step in at the Grand Prix finals, and both Morosanu and Kin would love to get one more shot at the crown.
